The State Of Architecture at the beginning
Of 21st Century : (review)
About one and a half year ago bought the book, ordering online to Amazon.com.Those days I was working for my graduation project,so just wanted to have a glance upon the contemporary thoughts.But.....you know,I'm just too lazy to grab ideas from written text!!and feel quite bore too when I am forced by situation or people to read books for any specific purpose.Rather it's much enjoyable to read for pleasure with a cup of coffee, when all the hazard of exam is over .So when I was lookin' for something interesting in my book-shelf this morn, found it almost new and kept safely in a stack of old 日計アーキテクチャーmagazines of 2005!!
Let's see what's amazing inside :
"In thinking about the role of the building envelope in separating public and private, the notion of the boundary is critical. One idea that I have been exploring in recent projects is porosity : drawing public space into a building's interior to make a series of public rooms in a city. This is partly a response to living in London, where the buildings tend to be fortified and public spaces come about by accidents rather than by designing.Porosity suggests a new kind of Urbanism, composed of streams of flows of movement that cut through the city fabric"
Movement And Porosity/Zaha Hadid
.....and these kinda stuff!!The whole book is composed of some very selected architectural essays by contemporary legends edited by-Bernard Tschumi and Irene Cheng(Columbia'arch). So I think,it's a compulsory reading for the Architect-wannabe's of present time.
